heart felt imposter
I used to have the coolest dark blue mechanic shirt
From a thrift store that died into a florist on believe it or not main street
It had "Mr. Valentine" in script, over the front pocket
and I wore it out
and girls would ask
'And are you Mr. Valentine?'
And I'd say no, do you know him?
and they'd laugh, 'no why?'
I am a just a fake mechanic then
with a blue valentine lie
dressed in lovely used rags...
honest
one of my favorite yet. and that's saying something. send this out and let's see how sharp the editors are.
these are good times, old pal.
keep it going....!

what became of your shirt? someone stole my bowling shirt with the script louise. i said, "yes i'm louise" every time they asked. and they really liked that, which is odd because what's the hidden meaning of louise?
Posted by: e. at February 13, 2007 9:44 PMwow, glad you dug it. yeah those poetry editors, their all high on paint scratched from the bowel of a fisherman's tug. Or something like that.
Posted by: heroic imp at February 14, 2007 7:05 AMe.-, I loved that shirt, had two if you can believe that, both just vanished. They fit perfect were perfect in every respect. I miss them. This was like in 1984, before it was hip to wear these things. Made them that more special. Louise to me means grits. Grits and black coffee on a road trip. I think that is the meaning.
Posted by: heroic imp at February 14, 2007 7:08 AMI can totally see you in that shirt! Wonder what he's doing now, Mr. Valentine, his clothing and hearts strewn across the New Jersey landscape... Hope he's enjoying his day.
